This is a pretty good assortment of pieces that can be used in many different configurations for attaching a multitude of different cameras, phones, and other assorted goodies via standard ¼” tripod mounting holes and a couple of cold shoe mounts. Everything feels solidly constructed and not at all flimsy. I like that you can use some or all of the pieces in any way you can think of in order to suit your specific needs.I also like that the two cell phone holders have wide, flat sides that enable them to hold a variety of different phones including ones in cases. I have a Moto g6 Play, and I use a Unicorn Beetle case (similar to an Otterbox), and it’s a pain to take it in and out of its case. So it’s nice that I can use this setup with my phone still in its case.As nice as this grip is, there are some areas for improvement. First, and most importantly, the cold shoe mounts do not fit with some of my lights. I have some basic lights that appear to be a pretty common design, so I think a lot of people could run into this issue. It seems like either the metal on the cold shoe mounts is too thick or goes in too far, which makes it impossible for me to slide the lights into place. I have not run into this issue with other cold shoe mounts, including the one on my point and shoot Sony RX100 ii camera. I had another light that does fit with these cold shoe mounts, so your mileage may vary here. I’ll include a picture of the both a light that won’t fit and a detachable piece that came with another light that does fit. The picture that includes the light itself is the one that does not fit.Another issue I have with this grip, albeit a minor one, is that I wish it had included some hardware for attaching a GoPro camera. Yes, this comes with a ton of bits with ¼” mounting screws, and I can get an adapter that goes between that and a GoPro mount, but it would be nice if it came with a couple of those. After all, it comes with two cell phone holders. And while you can fit a GoPro into one of those, I’d rather have something a little more secure (I’d say definitely don’t use the spring clamp for a GoPro unless you are putting all of this on a tripod and will be keeping it stationary. The other phone clamp tightens, so it might hold it a little more securely.).Additionally, one or two small tripods would be a nice addition, but that would also increase the price, so I understand not including them. Also, the snug foam insert is a little too snug. Granted, I’m probably not likely to completely disassemble after every use, so I’m not sure how often I’d use the insert and box anyway.

This is a good camera cage, even though it’s on the cheap side. This product comes with several knobs that provides plenty of adjustability and mounting options. Good handles with nice grip, aluminum rails that allow you to mount your cold shoe to any position. Very versatile.Overall this camera mount cage provides plenty of options and versatility, and if you’re working on a budget this is the product for you. Recommended.

I’m going to have to think about this thing for a while. I saw this and thought with all the different parts, this has to come in very handy-someday. Everything here is 1/4 inch, so is compatible with just about all camera tripods and mounting products around today. Basically this is a poor-man’s cage. I tried 3 different full size DSLR’s and they all fit between the rails just fine. The handles can be mounted in any of 5 different orientations and you can use either or both of the rails. There are 8 knobs with male/female threads, offering much of the versatility I alluded to at the start. One of the phone mounts is the spring type and the other is a threaded clamp version, each with the usual two threaded sockets. The handles have a nice solid feel and a somewhat soft texture for the finger grip.If I had a complaint about this thing, it would be that the packaging-it is TOO robust. Each item has a dedicated cutout in which it fits, and each is held tightly-very tightly. You have to pick the whole liner up out of the box and push the pieces from the back to get them out. Kind of a stupid thing to complain about, but it is annoying to have to use two hands to remove a part.I did an Amazon search for DreamGrip and it seems this is a junior version of their much more extensive (and expensive) Evolution series. It looks like they are trying to get professional equipment features into the hands of budding film makers. They offer a whole series of additional parts, mounts and devices that can be added to the handles and rails, and I would say that you can use an endless variety of your own equipment also. While the full blown kit looks like quite the thing, if you want to start somewhere but are on a limited budget, I think you can’t go wrong with this kit.
